Yakima, WA – On Friday night Yakima United FC and their visitors, Olympic Force, treated the fans in attendance at Marquette Stadium to an entertaining eleven goal thriller that saw the hosts come away with all three points and their second consecutive win.
The home side jumped out to an early lead as William “Cepi” Pineda scored a beautifully curled shot in just the 3rd minute. By the 8th minute Jr Garcia would treble the Hoppers lead, adding to Andres Ruiz’s 6th minute finish, but the goal scoring was far from over.
With twenty minutes played Olympic’s Roland Demombynes would pull one back for the force before “Big” Hector Valdovinos restored Yakima’s three goal lead in the 32nd minute. That lead would not last long as Miles Nilsen converted from the spot just three minutes later, reducing the Hoppers lead back to two to a half time score of 4-2.
The Force drew first blood in the second half as Diego Aceves cut the difference between the teams to one in the 56th minute. Yakima’s Sunnyside contingent of Garcia and debutant, Noe Meza, gave United some breathing room in the 62nd and 66th minutes with Garcia bagging his second of the night with Yakima sixth and final goal of the evening.
Olympic refused to roll over as Kyle Schoals curled in a free kick just outside the area in the 83rd minute before Daniel Wiseman finished the scoring in added time. Yakima’s Noe Meza was voted by fans as Man of the Match on his first ever appearance for the club.
Yakima, currently in third place with ten points, travels to Spokane this evening to face the Shadow, who sit three places back but with three games in hand and four points on the season. Kickoff is at 7pm from Spokane Falls Community College Stadium.
